Another good weekend birding. 1-30-11

A nice couple of shots of doing the bobbing head thing.

Today was Owl and squirrel. No moose to be found.

                                 Coyote was roaming around looking for an easy meal.

                           A nice Allen's Hummingbird posed for a few shots.

Last weekend in January. 

Off to see what I could see. 

The white-tailed kites continue hanging out. It would be thrilling if they were to nest. Keeping a close eye out from whatever I can on the weekends. 

Saw 3 different burrowing owls at one time today. That was very cool. The osprey gave some great looks both days. I'm trying to find out anything I can about the bands. Will update if I find out any more.

Also happy a coyote made an appearance for me today. That was cool. Hadn't seen one in a little while.

Got out one day this weekend. 1-23-11

 Of course, I was thrilled when a Northern Harrier flew right at me over a hill.

 Got another good view of a pair of kites, this one was yawning or catching flies... not sure which

And a cute little savannah sparrow was singing his heart out. Note bumps on bill. Not sure what that's all about.

Really just looking for a new way to share my stuff.

I'm a beginning birder here in Orange County CA.

This seems a fun thing.
This is a white-tailed kite. I found a pair and have been observing them for a few weeks now.
Sorry, not so good at page lay-out. Hopefully that will come with time! :-)
